Where is Divetime Mauritius?
Divetime LTD, trading as Divetime Mauritius, is an independent PADI centre in the village of Quatre Cocos, East Coast, Mauritius (plus code RQ2G+W26). We are not inside a hotel. We are the only scuba centre on the east coast based outside a hotel. Tell us where you are staying and we can arrange pickup from hotels and villas around Belle Mare.
Are you based at Sunrise Attitude Hotel?
No. Older websites, directories and some Tripadvisor reviews still say that. Our shop is in the village centre of Quatre Cocos. Please use plus code RQ2G+W26 or the map on this page, not hotel directions for Sunrise Attitude.
How do I book?
WhatsApp Sam on +230 5725 2525, email seriyaan@yahoo.com, call, or walk into the centre. Send your dates, how many people, certification level (or never dived), and where you are staying. Rates are quoted for your trip. We do not publish prices here.
Which languages do you teach in?
English, French and Hindi every day. Some German when the team on the boat that day can cover it.
How many divers per guide?
Never more than 4 divers per guide. We run one boat, 13 people including skipper and crew.
Do you offer night dives?
Yes. Night dives need a minimum of 4 divers.
Does the east coast cancel a lot?
Belle Mare faces more wind and swell than the west coast. When the sea is wrong we cancel rather than force a bad boat ride. We will tell you as early as we can and rebook.
How long is Discover Scuba actually underwater?
Briefing and kit fitting come first. Time underwater on a first dive is often shorter than people expect, sometimes around 15 to 25 minutes. We stay in shallow water and go at your pace, including if you are nervous or a weak swimmer.
Who are the instructors?
Shyam Dhunnookchand (Sam) is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, SSI Advanced Instructor, CMAS, BSAC, EFR, Nitrox instructor, diploma in marine biology. Dev Koosul is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, CMAS Instructor, EFR instructor. Bruno Gregoire is a PADI Divemaster, EFR instructor. Guests often name Sam and Dev in reviews for patience with first-timers.
When might we see whales?
Humpback whales sometimes pass this coast toward the end of austral winter. Sightings are not guaranteed, and we do not run dedicated whale trips.
